When del.icio.us is just too darn complex…

I’ve been using del.icio.us successfully for a number of years and have amassed over 1,600 links during that time. Using the FireFox delicious plugin i find the process of online bookmarking second nature. However, the Yahoo bookmarking service lends itself well only to bookmarks for historical referencing, not articles or news pieces that you want to read, ‘but not right now’.

Yesterday i came across Shifd, a new bookmarking product developed by the R&D team at the NYTimes. I was skeptical at first, but i’m now hooked. I didn’t want another bookmarking tool, but Shifd really lends itself well to marking articles you want to read at a later date, but not keep forever. Something i do, as a matter of circumstance, all the time.

Take a look at the official website, Techcrunch review and interviews with its creators here and here.
