Traditional publishers begin to embrace web 2.0, finally

As reported by Vecosys, Emap, one of the UK’s largest publishing houses has acquired YoSpace. YoSpace maintains the platform used by both 3’s SeeMeTV and 02’s Look AT Me TV services - both sites reward users for submitting user generated content (ugc). The deal was said to be worth just under £9m, with a further £5 million if performance targets are met. The U.S., particularly in Silicon Valley, has seen a large increase in buy-outs over the last three months, so it was only a matter of time before the UK tech industry realised, suprisingly, that there is actually money to be made with this thing those Americans call the ‘tinternet’.
