A new year, a new generation, a new web

Happy new year everyone!

2006 Was one of the most exciting years on the web since the dot come boom at the turn of the century. The web community became more creative, more curious, more adventurous and of course more pro-active. Broadband is now mainstream in many of the internet enabled countries, which has allowed users to stay connected longer - even permanently.
Silicon Valley started to get busy again, got more innovative, and more wiser. Venture capitalists and wall street investors became more relaistic about what to expect, and invested only in project with potential revenue or pr streams.
And thanks to what’s happening in the US, the UK web community is now amazingly vibrant, particularly in London. Successful UK blogs like Techcrunch UK, and soon the to be popular Vecosys (run by Sam Sethi and Mike Butcher) have managed to promote UK innovation in such a new way, it almost appears to rival that of our American friends.

2007 is going to be a very big year in the UK for large and small organisations who are keen to push the borders of Web 2.x. Social and Conversational Publishing are concepts that will become more widespread, thanks to innovative projects like QueeensSpeech and JPG Magazine.

If 2006 was good, 2007 is going to be far more than great!
