Terapad - the new kid on the blog

Sam Sethi of Techcrunch UK blogged over the weekend about a new blogging service providor (bsp) called Terapad. Terapad is ’social networking’ enabled by offering integrated rss reading, jobs/cv search, event calendar, image gallery, paypal and discussion forum support straight out of the box. Similar to what i said on Techcrunch, I think in a few months Terapad will be a true contender for the likes of Blogger, but not Wordpress or MovableType - Terapad only offers a hosted solution at this moment in time.

One of the individuals behind the project, Stephen Tual, has very kindly offered to post on this blog in the next few days the reasons behind providing the hosted service only. I’m keen to see Terapad develop into a successful project. The mainstream blogging tools (aside from Wordpress) seem to have stagnated recently in terms of new features, so some real keen innovation wouldn’t go amiss. And finally, the best bit from Stephen:

“Finally one aspect that hasn’t been mentioned yet is how we’re going to help people monetize their blogging hobby, we’ve started with the easy to set up shop so that people can sell the items they blog about, but there’s more on the way.”
